Amsterdam in the Spring

Our feet are swollen, our legs are sore, but it's all worth it.  The last seven days in Amsterdam felt like a dream.  The sun was always shining, giving us light and warmth in a city that’s otherwise dark and chilly.  The lack of tourist allowed Greg and I to be first in line at every museum.  We were able to explore the city without having to dodge walking tours or groups of school children.  And the tulips just began to bloom. A cornucopia of flowers lined every street corner giving the city a sweet fresh smell. And on those streets, you would always find an abundance of coffee shops and cafes. Amsterdam offers a large variety of comfort food, heavy and filling but easy to walk off. Amsterdam is a small city.  And if you enjoy walking, you will love exploring the long narrow alleyways, large squares, and endless canals. And that’s exactly what we did.  Every day, we walked everywhere.  And that’s why 2,000 pictures and a few sore feet later, this became the best trip ever.

Amsterdam has delicious comfort foods. One of my favorites are the French fries served on every corner (topped with spicy mayonnaise and ketchup)
Bitterballen are my absolute favorite snacks.
Poffertjes are to die for. They're basically mini pancakes.

Amsterdam Cribs is located at Oude Hoogstraat 7 1012 CD Amsterdam. Look for Pick Up the Pieces coffee-shop as this B&B does not have a sign outside

We loved staying at the Amsterdam Cribs.  Situated above Pick Up The Pieces coffee shop, this cozy B&B had everything a young traveler would need.  Our room was clean and comfortable.  The friendly live-in staff provided us with extra comforters, pillows, and towels.  Our room came equipped with a minifridge, coffee maker, TV, and a private bathroom.  The main focal point in our quaint room, had to be the two large windows that extended the length of one wall.  At night, we would lie in bed and watch the hustle andbustle of the city into the late night hours. Most importantly, we always felt safe.  In order to get to our room, you had to go through three locked doors.  And, Amsterdam Cribs is in a touristy neighborhood.  The streets were crowded day and night.  Restaurants, shops, museums, and public transportation surrounded us.  Theconvenient location of this B&B was spectacular.  We are very excited to check back in soon.  We hope to have the same room-the White Widow.
The winding staircase is very steep.
